Escarpment

Escarpment began as a thought, although I had looked at some photos to get an ideas ..but for the most part this is completely made up.

I love cliff faces, one can see all manner of faces in them, and animals, and I found as I painted this one, I had to stop myself from making a few faces too obvious. Fun though :)

I had this very long canvas to work on, and that was a challenge in itself. Using acrylics I veil paint over areas in layers, pulling parts of the cliff face together and guiding the eye to the most important parts. I have posted sections of the painting as well (on the right) as the finished result on the left..
